I was walking my dogs the other day and I came upon an injured bird. This is a predicament I have been in before as I am sure many of you reading this have as well. You want to help, but what can you do? You call your regular vet, but they are only used to dealing with dogs and cats. Thankfully someone walking by responded to my dumbfounded expression and helped me out with a shoe box and phone number for the Sean Casey Animal Rescue.
I took my bird there and was immediately helped. I was told he probably just had a sprain, could be rehabbed, and would be returned to the location where I found him.
They didn't require any payment as they are all donation based, but giving them something or a lot of something is the least you can do.

Robin's Big Adventure Takes him to NYC

We were lucky enough to be a stop on our good friend, Robin Webb's big adventure. He is crossing the US on his motor bike, a life long dream of his, so good job to him. We wish you safe and fun travels.
Robin, visiting from the UK only has 15 hours in NYC so we do what any vegan would do and feed him. We took him to one of our old time favorites, Caravan of Dreams This all vegan spot has been around longer than I can remember and is a must for delicious and healthy grub. Unchicken Nachos for the table and Indonesian Salad is usually the way I go but the burritos and taquitos are the direction I usually send my table mates in so that I can score a taste.
After dinner it was on to Lula's for some homemade vegan ice cream. This little place is always packed and after you have tried it you will know why. They are also very generous with the samples which is great for someone who can't get there often. They always have some new things to try but their most popular flavors are always there. When we were there they had a flavor called the Elvis which involved peanut butter, marshmallow fluff, and faux bacon. This was an instance when I really enjoyed the ability to sample but for my full dose I had to go for the soft serve Cake Batter flavor.
We did other "New Yorky" things besides eat, you know, we took the dogs to off leash hours in Prospect Park, complained about the summer city heat and ran for the subway only to have it close right in our faces.
NYC, we love you!

Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctuary

Just got back from a visit to Woodstock Farm Animal Sanctaury. It is home to hundreds of rescued farm animals
If you haven't been yet, you really have to make it your business to get there because you will love it. They have tours every Saturday and Sunday or go for one of their many special events.
While you are in the area, don't forget to eat at the all vegan Garden Cafe because it is delicious.
We also had the opportunity to visit some friends that have just started a small sanctuary called Sunset Sanctuary. Can't wait to see what comes of this place.

Sneak Peak at MooShoes Newsletter and Discount Code on ALL Bags and Wallets

Hello from MooShoes.
We have some new, very new, and very, very new products to tell you about.
We have tons of new styles from J-41 and Madden Girl. The Madrid in black and brown from J-41 was a top-seller last year and now it's back and better than ever. In the same family, we also have the Zephyr shoe, available in black, brown, and charcoal. Both of these styles are super comfortable and look really great on the foot. With all these new styles, older styles must go which means every other style from J-41 is on sale while supplies last!
And from Madden Girl we have the Panamaa in black and brown, the Rayyna, also in black and brown, and the ultra-stylish Kalypso. Whether you're looking for something cute and practical, or something cute and...let's say, less practical...one of these styles is bound to work for you.
Sneakers; can you ever truly get enough? We think not. Which is why it's handy that we happen to have the Tuba in Charcoal from Simple Shoes. The Tuba, like all shoes from Simple, is extremely environmentally savvy. We have loads of new shoes from Simple on the way, which means it's time to say goodbye to some older styles, which are now available at discounted prices.
Also on the sneaker front, check out the Schubert, available in two different combos. This midtop, canvas sneaker was super-popular last year and we think people will like it even more this time around.
Enough about shoes, you say, then how about some bags. We have loads of new bags from Melie Bianco, Big Buddha, and Redhanded. We have messengers, totes, shoulder, and clutches. Since we are pretty sure you might want more than one, we're offering a discount on all bags and wallets. Please type moobags and you will get 15% off of any bag or wallet. This offer is good until July 31st.

Ban Horse Drawn Carriages

Do you live in NYC? Are you absolutely horrified by the horse-drawn carriage industry? Are you shocked that NYC, one of the most progressive cities in the world, hasn't joined the ranks of London, Paris, Toronto and others in banning such a horrific act of cruelty? If you are a business owner in NYC or the surrounding area, and you would like to inform your customers about ways they can help put an end to this, we have a little suggestion. MooShoes and raven + crow studio have teamed up with The Coalition to Ban Horse-Drawn Carriages to create the Ban Horse-Drawn Carriages Poster Project. We're asking concerned business owners to hang these beautiful posters in their places of business to call attention to the issue and get those poor horses off the crowded, dangerous streets of New York.
If you're interested, please email erica@mooshoes.com or horses@ravenandcrowstudio.com with your business name, address, which design and how many posters you would like.
